SA Frog Census
The SA Frog Census was initiated and coordinated by the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) in 1994 and has been running during Frog Week in September every year since then. It developed as an extension of the state Frogwatch program for schools and provides a snapshot of SA frog distribution and abundance. The program has had more than 1855 community groups and individuals involved with frog monitoring at over 2790 sites, resulting in more than 8500 recordings and 16000 individual records.
The most commonly recorded frog species is the common froglet (Crinia signifera), followed by the spotted grass frog (Limnodynastes tasmaniensis), the brown tree frog (Litoria ewingi) and the eastern banjo frog (Limnodynastes dumerili).

The value of this long-term monitoring project has been recognised by a range of partners who are working together to take the Frog Census into the next stage of its evolution; the Frog Atlas.
