Cyclorana cultripes
Grassland Collared Frog, Desert Collared Frog
Description: The frog is characterised by its dull grey colour and a stripe that runs along its back. Its ears are small and there is also has a pale bar across the head behind the eyes and a broad, dull stripe on the side of the head. The skin is slightly warty. Its fingers are not webbed, while its toes are one third webbed.
Male size: 38-41 mm
Female size: 38-43 mm.
Breeding: Takes place in January. The males congregate in flooded grasslands and call from the edge of the water.
SA Distribution: Found in the very far North East corner of the State within the area known as the Cooper Creek basin.
Habitat: Burrowing frog that is generally only found in temporary waterways after rain.
Call: Call is a harsh note, lasting about 1/4 of a second.
