Crinia parinsignifera

Murray Valley Froglet, Beeping Froglet

Description: The skin colour and pattern, although highly variable, is usually grey or brown. The skin on the back is smooth or may have ridges or other raised areas. The belly is rough, and in females, has generally uniform patterns.

Male size: 18-22 mm
Female size: 21-23 mm

Breeding: Breeds mostly in mid winter in temporarily flooded areas adjacent to river. Eggs are scattered.

Distribution: Distribution in S.A. is limited to the River Murray.

Habitat: Lives amongst vegetation and beneath debris in or adjacent to water (swamps and ponds).  In dry conditions will crawl beneath dense vegetation where the soil remains moist.

Call: Call is a harsh, high pitched "eeeek".
