Description: Colour and pattern extremely variable, even within populations, ranging from grey to brown to black. The skin may be plain, striped or spotted, smooth, warty or rigid. The belly is usually white with black splotches.
Male size: 18-25 mm
Female size: 19-28 mm
Breeding: Breeds throughout the year except in mid summer. Eggs are layed in small bunches of 100-150 in shallow, static or slow moving water.
Distribution: Most common frog in S.A - found in streams of the Mt Lofty Ranges and south east South Australia. It also occurs on the southern Eyre Peninsula and Kangaroo Island.
Habitat: Found beneath rocks, vegetation and debris at the edge of creeks, ponds, wetlands and areas of seepage. During dry periods the frog may be found away from water sources.
Call: Call is a rapid, regular series of "crick crick crick", or single squelch.
